Srinagar, May 26: Budgam Police on Tuesday disclosed identity of the accused arrested in connection with the murder of a minor girl in Galwanpora village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district, saying the investigation has so far found no involvement of any other individual in the crime.
According to a police statement as per Alfaaz – The Words, the accused has been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Nabi Mir, resident of Galwanpora Sebdan, Budgam.
Police said the particulars of the accused were withheld during the initial stage of the investigation as several vital medico-legal, forensic and evidentiary procedures were underway, and disclosure at that juncture could have prejudiced the legal and investigative process.

Budgam Police appealed to the public to maintain peace, communal harmony and public order, urging citizens to cooperate with the investigating agencies and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
The police also cautioned against the circulation of rumours, speculative content and unverified allegations related to the case, warning that strict legal action would be initiated against those found spreading misinformation.
Media organisations and social media users have been urged to exercise responsibility and restraint while reporting or commenting on the matter, with police stating that dissemination of misleading or unverified information could create unnecessary public anxiety and adversely impact law and order.
