BRO bolstered strategic connectivity, border infra in challenging terrains of J&K, Ladakh: PSC on Defence

PSC on Defence made these observations, while reviewing key infrastructure projects completed and underway by BRO in the twin Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

The panel, led by BJP MP Radha Mohan Singh, was on a two-day study visit to Jammu on May 24 and 25, 2026.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on key infrastructure projects completed and underway by BRO in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

During the interaction during review meetings, the delegation appreciated the remarkable progress and dedicated efforts of BRO in enhancing strategic connectivity in enhancing strategic connectivity and strengthening critical border infrastructure in some of the nation’s most challenging terrains.

Engineering challenges, logistical constraints and the operational importance of all-weather infrastructure in border areas, particularly in remote and high-altitude sectors of two UTs, were exhaustively deliberated during the meeting.

The parliamentary panel, according to officials, praised the BRO for its dedicated efforts for expansion of critical infrastructure along sensitive borders despite challenging circumstances in terms of topography, capricious weather and difficult climatic conditions, with the sole objective of bolstering defence mobility and civilian access to treacherous areas.

Earlier the delegation comprising Members of Parliament, officials from Lok Sabha secretariat and Ministry of Defence was received by Harendra Kumar, ADG HeadQuarter DGBR. Chief Engineers of Project Sampark, Beacon, Vijayak, Himank and Yojak also attended the interaction.

The panel, according to officials, concluded its visit with an interactive session reflecting BRO’s unwavering commitment towards nation building and operational readiness.
