SRINAGAR: The search operation to locate suspected militants hiding in the dense forests of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir continued for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday, officials said.

A joint operation involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was launched on Saturday after intelligence inputs indicated militant presence in the area. The operation, named Operation Sheruwali, is ongoing in the region.

Officials stated that an encounter took place soon after the operation began in the Dorimal–Gambhir Moghla belt. According to the Army’s White Knight Corps, contact was established with suspected militants at around 11:30 am on Saturday during the intelligence-based operation conducted jointly with police and CRPF.

Preliminary assessments suggest the presence of two to three militants in the area. Security forces have maintained a tight cordon, supported by surveillance measures to prevent any possible escape.

The search operation remains underway, with further details awaited as the situation develops.
