FIR registered in north Kashmir in alleged religious conversion case; investigation underway

Srinagar, May 19: Authorities in Kupwara have registered a case following reports of an alleged religious conversion incident in the north Kashmir district.

According to officials, police have taken cognizance of the matter and registered an FIR under relevant sections of law. They said that a detailed investigation has been set into motion to examine all aspects of the case and ascertain the facts surrounding the allegations.

Officials, while confirming the development to Alfaaz – The Words, said that the investigation is still at a preliminary stage.

Meanwhile, authorities have urged people to maintain calm and refrain from spreading rumours or sharing unverified information on social media platforms, warning that circulation of misleading content could hamper the investigation and disturb public order.

Police said that all necessary legal procedures are being followed and the matter is being investigated in accordance with law.
