Srinagar, May 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for pensioners and family pensioners under the 7th Pay Commission from 58 per cent to 60 per cent of the basic pension and family pension, with effect from January 1, 2026.

According to an order issued by the Finance Department’s Codes Division, the revised DA will be applicable to all government pensioners and family pensioners drawing pension under the 7th Pay Commission framework.

The government has also sanctioned the release of arrears for the period from January to April 2026. The arrears will be paid in cash during May 2026, after which the enhanced DA component will form part of the regular monthly pension and family pension.

The order further stated that any fraction of a rupee arising during the calculation of DA shall be rounded off to the next higher rupee.

It also said that all existing provisions regulating the payment of Dearness Allowance, including rules governing re-employed pensioners and cases involving multiple pensions, will continue to remain in force unless inconsistent with the latest directive.
