Kupwara, May 16: Kupwara witnessed one of the largest student-led non-government cleanliness drives on Saturday, bringing together young volunteers under a shared effort to make the town cleaner and greener under KASHUP (Kashmir Advancement for Societal Healing and Upliftment Progress).
The drive was sponsored by Sufi Tahir, SM Sales, with printing support provided by PrintBox. The initiative was supported by the municipality and organised in collaboration with My New School and Government Middle School Sohipora.
More than 60 students and 20 team coordinators participated in the campaign, raising awareness on cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and public hygiene. Volunteers cleaned several public spaces and collected nearly 200 kilograms of waste, marking a significant turnout and impact.
Participants said the drive went beyond cleaning streets and aimed at promoting civic responsibility and environmental awareness among residents.
Burhaan ul Haq described the campaign as a movement for change and urged citizens to continue supporting cleanliness initiatives across the district.
