KPDCL Announces Power Shutdowns Across Five Kashmir Districts | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across several districts of Kashmir from May 16 to June 20 to facilitate maintenance and upgrading works at various grid stations and transmission lines.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, multiple areas in Baramulla, Kupwara, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Pulwama and adjoining districts will witness power interruptions on different dates due to shutdowns of several 132 kV and 33 kV transmission lines.

The major shutdown at the 132/33 kV Grid Station Amargarh on May 17 will affect electricity supply to large parts of Sopore and adjoining areas, including Panzipora, Tarzoo, Hygam, Arampora, Warpora, Tujjar, Mazbugh, Fruit Mandi Sopore, Dangiwacha, Bomai, Ruhama and several neighbouring localities from 9 am to 4 pm.

Similarly, electricity supply to Handwara, Kupwara and Lolab areas, including Handwara Town, Zachaldara, Changimulla, Wadipora, Rajpora, Batagund, the entire Lolab Valley and Machil Valley, will remain affected on May 18 from 9 am to 3 pm due to shutdown of the 33 kV Arampora-Handwara and Kupwara lines.

In north Kashmir’s Pattan sector, areas including Pattan, Palhalan, Tapper, Hyderbeigh, Hanjiwera and adjoining localities will face power cuts on May 17 following shutdown of the 33 kV Nehalpora-Pattan-Amargarh line.

KPDCL also announced repeated shutdowns on the 33 kV Nehalpora-HMT line on May 18, 20 and 25, affecting Kalsari, Singhpora, SKUAST, Mirgund, Shadipora and nearby areas.

In Baramulla district, Wagoora, Kreeri, Saloosa, Sangrama and adjoining localities will witness power interruptions on May 19 and 21 due to maintenance works on the 33 kV Delina-Wagoora line, while additional shutdowns in Kreeri and nearby areas are scheduled for May 21 and 25.

The utility also announced shutdowns in central Kashmir, with areas including Gund, Sonamarg, Kangan, Gagangeer and Wangath set to remain without electricity on May 16 due to maintenance of the 33 kV Kangan lines. Wussan, Preng and Haripora areas will similarly be affected on May 19.

In Ganderbal district, areas including Beehama, Wayil, Nunner and Manigam will face power disruptions on May 17 owing to maintenance on the 33 kV Alasteng Power House line.

Industrial units in Khunmoh, including major cement plants such as SAIFCO Cements, Khyber Cements and TCI MAX, will remain affected on May 24 and June 7 due to shutdown of the 33 kV Khunmoh SIDCO-III line.

KPDCL further said power supply to Sonwar, Shivpora, Badamibagh, Panthachowk and adjoining areas of Srinagar will remain affected on June 3 due to shutdown of the Pampore-Badamibagh and Panthachowk-Pampore lines.

Additional shutdowns have also been scheduled in Soura, Lal Bazar, Khanyar, Rainawari and Awantipora areas during June for maintenance and system improvement works.

The power utility has advised consumers in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements during the shutdown period.
