
SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved a major review and restructuring of the JK Engineering (Gazetted) Service in the Jal Shakti Department to strengthen water supply and hydraulic infrastructure across the Union Territory.
According to a government order, approval has been granted for the creation of the post of Secretary Technical in the department, establishment of a separate Design, Inspection and Quality Control (DIQC) wing, and setting up of offices for Superintending Engineers for Hydraulic Circle Jammu-II and Hydraulic Circle Bandipora.
The restructuring also includes the creation of six new divisions, including Hydraulic Divisions at Gandoh, Gurez and Tangdar, a Public Health Engineering (PHE) Division at Mendhar, and two Water Quality and Monitoring Divisions for the Jammu and Kashmir provinces.
The government has further approved the restructuring of Mechanical Sub-Divisions, creation of 43 posts through the reduction of 62 existing posts, encadrement of 10 posts, and reassignment of 137 posts within the cadre.
In addition, changes have been made to deputation and leave reserve posts across various engineering categories, including Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and Assistant Executive Engineers, with the aim of improving the department’s overall functioning.
