SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday inaugurated the ‘Shaurya Gatha’ Complex at SM Hill in the Tangdhar area of Karnah in Kupwara district, aimed at promoting battlefield tourism, preserving military heritage and boosting development in border areas.

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said the complex was dedicated to the courage and sacrifice of Indian soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation. He said their bravery should inspire citizens and remain a source of pride for future generations.

He commended the Northern Command, Chinar Corps, Army personnel, engineers, workers and local residents for completing the project within a short time.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Manoj Sinha said the complex would create opportunities for battlefield tourism in the border region and support employment generation through homestays, handicrafts and youth entrepreneurship.

The Lieutenant Governor said Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing peace, prosperity and rapid development, while Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir continues to suffer from neglect and poor governance. Reaffirming that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, he said the people are experiencing renewed confidence and progress.

He reiterated the administration’s commitment to border area development and said projects under the Bharat Rannbhoomi Darshan programme would strengthen economic growth in Tangdhar-Karnah and showcase the region’s defence heritage and culture.

Manoj Sinha also said seven villages in the Tangdhar-Karnah region have been included under the Vibrant Village Programme to improve infrastructure, livelihood opportunities and living standards.

Referring to connectivity projects, he said the proposed Sadhna Tunnel would improve security, connectivity and economic activity by ensuring all-weather access and facilitating trade, healthcare, education and disaster response.

Among those present on the occasion were Pratik Sharma, Balbir Singh, Ashish Chandra Verma, Anshul Garg, senior Army officers, civil administration officials, and police and security personnel.
