SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department on Tuesday ordered a major reshuffle in the health sector by transferring and posting 22 doctors across various districts and health institutions in the Union Territory.

According to Government Order No. 411-JK(HME) of 2026 dated May 12, the transfers have been made “in the interest of administration and patient care” with immediate effect.

Among the key transfers, Dr. Sanjay Arora has been posted as I/C State Malariologist, while Dr. Rashmi Sharma has been assigned as I/C Epidemiologist. Dr. Sunil Kailu and Dr. Bashir Ahmad Malik have been posted as I/C Assistant Directors for Family Welfare, MCH & Immunization in Jammu and Kashmir divisions respectively.

Dr. Vinod Sharma has been posted as I/C CMO Doda, while Dr. Sanjay Kumar Bhat has been assigned the charge of I/C CMO Kishtwar. Dr. Bhajan Kour has been transferred as I/C CMO Bandipora and Dr. Monika Kotwal as I/C Medical Superintendent, Government Hospital Sarwal Jammu.

The order further states that several doctors have been appointed as Medical Superintendents and Block Medical Officers in districts including Shopian, Reasi, Pattan, Kupwara, Beerwah, Khansahib, Bijbehara, Mendhar and Bishnah.

The government clarified that these assignments are temporary and subject to the outcome of any pending court cases. All transferred doctors have been deemed relieved from their previous postings and directed to immediately join their new places of posting.
