KPDCL Schedules Power Shutdowns in Several Areas | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: The Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL has announced a schedule of power shutdowns across several parts of Kashmir to carry out maintenance works, with multiple areas set to face disruptions between May 7 and May 16, 2026.

On May 11, electricity supply to Achabal, Gopalpora and Pahalgam will remain affected from 09:30 am to 01:30 pm due to the shutdown of the 132 kV Mattan line. On the same day, further interruptions will occur as the 132 kV Wanpoh 1st line will be shut from 02:30 pm to 04:00 pm, followed by the 132 kV Wanpoh 2nd line from 04:00 pm to 05:00 pm. These shutdowns will impact power supply to Anantnag, Malaknag, Qaimoh, Qazigund, Ashajipora, SICOP and Shopian.

On May 14, supply to Hiller, Kokernag and Dooru will be disrupted from 09:30 am to 11:00 am due to the shutdown of the 132 kV Lisser line. This will be followed by an outage from 11:00 am to 01:30 pm affecting Achabal, Gopalpora and Pahalgam owing to maintenance at the 132/33 kV Grid Substation Mattan. Additionally, power supply to the Northern Railways grid substation at Qazigund will remain affected from 02:30 pm to 04:00 pm due to the shutdown of the 132 kV IRCON-I line.

A major shutdown is scheduled for May 16, during which electricity supply to a wide range of areas—including Kulgam, Ashmuji, Kilam, Devsar, Chambgund, Nillow, DH Pora, Nagam, Chawalgam, Yaripora, Behibagh, Achabal, Gopalpora, Pahalgam, Hiller, Kokernag, Dooru, Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama and several adjoining localities—will remain affected from 09:30 am to 03:30 pm. The disruption is due to maintenance of the 475 MVA Grid Substation Mirbazar and the 220 kV New Wanpoh lines.

Meanwhile, in Srinagar, power supply to areas including Zainakote, HMT, Shalteng, Mujgund, SIDCO Industrial Area and adjoining localities will be affected on May 7 from 11:00 am to 03:30 pm due to the shutdown of the 33 kV HMT line.

Residents have been advised to make necessary arrangements in view of the scheduled outages.
