SRINAGAR: The Vande Bharat Express operating between Jammu and Srinagar has witnessed strong passenger response in its initial days of service, with occupancy levels rising steadily since its launch on May 2.

Railway figures show that on May 4, the train recorded an occupancy of 82 per cent, carrying around 4,680 passengers across two pairs of services. On May 5, occupancy increased to 96 per cent, with approximately 2,744 passengers travelling, as only one pair of services operated on that day.

Overall, around 16,349 passengers travelled on the service during the first four days of operation from May 2 to May 5, with an average occupancy of about 82 per cent.

Officials said the data reflects growing preference among pilgrims and tourists for the semi-high-speed train over conventional rail services on the route.

Passengers have expressed satisfaction with the train’s facilities, including smooth travel experience, modern onboard amenities, and food services. Railway officials from the Jammu Division have been conducting regular inspections to ensure service standards are maintained.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, Uchit Singhal, said the rise in occupancy from 82 per cent to 96 per cent within two days demonstrates strong passenger confidence. He added that the railways are continuously reviewing feedback to improve services further and expects the train to reach full occupancy during the peak tourism season.
