
SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday led a padyatra in central Kashmir’s Budgam district as part of the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukht Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan’, officials said.
The march saw the participation of students, youth, civil society members and district administration officials.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for collective community action to tackle drug abuse and urged young people to stay away from narcotics.
He reiterated the administration’s resolve to take strict action against drug traffickers, alongside sustained awareness drives and rehabilitation efforts.
Officials said the event concluded with participants taking a pledge to support the cause of a drug-free society.
The padyatra forms part of the Lieutenant Governor’s 100-day intensive ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan’, aimed at curbing drug abuse through large-scale public outreach and awareness programmes across the Union Territory.
