
SRINAGAR: Traffic Police Rural Kashmir has issued an advisory announcing traffic restrictions and diversions in Budgam town on May 5 in view of a mega Padyatra being organised under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
Officials said vehicular movement through Budgam town will remain restricted from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, during which the area will function as a no-traffic zone. Motorists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel via Budgam to prevent inconvenience.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is scheduled to inaugurate the Padyatra at the New Bus Stand, Budgam. The event is expected to witness large public participation as part of the awareness campaign against drug abuse.
To manage traffic flow, authorities have put in place a diversion plan. Vehicles from Beerwah and Magam towards Srinagar will be diverted at Mirgund via Khumani Chowk to Bemina. Traffic from Humhama towards Budgam will be rerouted through Ompora, Narkara and Gangbugh towards Srinagar.
Similarly, vehicles from Khansahib via Ichgam towards Budgam will be diverted through Gudsathoo, Panzan, Chadoora and Kralpora. Traffic from Jawalapora will be diverted near Crusher Point via Lakhripora, Pallar and Mirgund towards Bemina.
Authorities have also identified halting points at Durbugh Crossing, Chadoora, Ompora, Ichgam and Mirgund to regulate movement and reduce congestion.
Traffic Police have urged commuters to cooperate with the arrangements and follow advisories to ensure smooth and hassle-free movement during the event.
