SRINAGAR: A labourer was killed and another injured after a concrete slab of a residential house collapsed in the Sharshali area of Khrew in south Kashmir on Monday.

Official sources said the incident occurred around noon when two labourers came under a concrete slab while demolishing a structure.

The injured were identified as Mohammad Younis Bhat, son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat, aged 26, and Tariq Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Mohammad Lone, aged 32, both residents of Sharshali Khrew.

Both were immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital Pampore for treatment, where Mohammad Younis Bhat, who had sustained critical injuries, was declared dead, officials said.

The other labourer sustained minor injuries and is undergoing treatment.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident, and further investigation is underway. (JKNS)
