
SRINAGAR: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that NEET-UG 2026 for undergraduate medical admissions will be conducted on May 3, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The examination is set to take place in 552 cities across India, including major centres nationwide.
More than 22.80 lakh candidates have registered this year, competing for nearly two lakh medical seats in government and private institutions. Of the total applicants, around 9.47 lakh are male and 13.33 lakh are female, underlining the scale of NEET as one of the country’s largest competitive entrance examinations.
The test serves as the primary gateway for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH courses, BSc Nursing (Armed Forces Medical Colleges) and veterinary programmes, making it a crucial step for aspiring medical students across India.
Apart from domestic centres, NEET-UG 2026 will also be conducted in 14 international cities, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat, Riyadh and Singapore, extending access to overseas candidates.
The NTA has issued strict guidelines, instructing candidates to carry only a transparent water bottle, wear simple attire and avoid heavy accessories. Entry to examination centres will be permitted between 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM, with no entry allowed after the specified cut-off time.
Candidates have been advised to arrive well in advance, carry their admit cards along with valid identification, and adhere to all security protocols to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.
Meanwhile, in Jammu and Kashmir, the NEET-UG 2026 examination will be a key opportunity for aspirants vying for approximately 1,526 MBBS seats across 11 government medical colleges, including AIIMS Jammu.
