SRINAGAR: Police on Friday issued an advisory urging social media users, handlers, and members of the media fraternity to refrain from sharing, uploading, or circulating any videos or photographs related to the tragic incident in which a minor boy from Pulwama district in South Kashmir slipped into a stream and his body was later recovered.
The police directed that any such sensitive content already uploaded or circulated must be removed immediately, warning that failure to comply would invite legal action under relevant provisions of law.
In the advisory, police stressed the need to uphold the dignity of the deceased and respect the privacy of the bereaved family, stating that circulation of distressing visuals only deepens the family’s grief and violates ethical and legal norms.
Pulwama Police also appealed to all users to act responsibly and maintain sensitivity and decorum while using social media platforms.
Reaffirming its support, the police said it stands in solidarity with the bereaved family during this difficult time.
