Srinagar: Chief Executive Officer of the Haj Committee of India, Shanavas C. (IAS), on Saturday conducted a high-level inspection of facilities and logistics at the Srinagar embarkation point as the second phase of Haj 2026 departures continues.
The CEO visited the JK Haj House at Bemina to assess pre-departure arrangements for pilgrims. He reviewed baggage handling systems, documentation counters, accommodation and refreshment facilities, and interacted with pilgrims to take feedback on services. Officials were directed to ensure strict hygiene standards and round-the-clock assistance, with specific focus on elderly and specially-abled pilgrims.
Later, he proceeded to the Srinagar International Airport to oversee the embarkation process. He examined the functioning of dedicated immigration counters set up to facilitate swift clearance and minimise delays. Officials briefed him that around 4,700 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled to undertake the pilgrimage this year, with departures that commenced on April 18 progressing smoothly through multiple daily flights operated by designated carriers.
Shanavas stressed the need for close coordination among the State Haj Committee, Airport Authority of India and security agencies to ensure seamless movement of pilgrims at all stages.
“Our priority is to ensure that the journey of faith begins with comfort and dignity. The arrangements at the Srinagar embarkation point are satisfactory, and we are committed to resolving any logistical challenges in real time,” he said.
