Jammu Kashmir Assembly Speaker Reviews Progress on New Jammu Assembly Complex Construction | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, today reviewed the progress of construction work on the upcoming Legislative Assembly Complex at Jammu during a high-level meeting convened for the purpose.

The meeting was attended by Secretary, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Achal Sethi; Engineer-in-Chief Purshotam Kumar; Chief Engineer R and B Jammu Rajesh Kumar; Secretary, JKLA Manoj Kumar Pandita; Director Finance PWD HK Prashar; Superintending Engineer RB South Circle Jammu Arit Gupta, besides other senior officers of the concerned departments and the Legislative Assembly Secretariat.

A comprehensive review was carried out on multiple components of the project, focusing on its early completion and key infrastructure features including the proposed Central Hall, committee-cum-meeting rooms, seating arrangements, library, and media facilities.

The executing agency presented a detailed PowerPoint briefing through the Executive Engineer, outlining the project’s phases of execution and overall construction strategy.

Officials informed the meeting that a Central Hall has been envisaged as a fundamental requirement of the Legislative Assembly infrastructure. It was also disclosed that the complex will house five committee-cum-meeting rooms with seating capacities ranging from 50 to 100 members.

Regarding support facilities, the meeting was apprised that sufficient space has been allocated for both a library and a media room within the proposed complex.

After reviewing the status of work, the Speaker underscored the importance of completing the project within the stipulated timeline while maintaining high construction quality. He directed the executing agency to accelerate the pace of work and ensure adherence to deadlines.
