A bridge constructed by the Indian Army at Audoora village in Baramulla outskirts has eased the access for school going children, farmers and elderly people of the area.
The bridge was inaugurated on Monday in Audoora village and the facility, according to residents of the local villages, has brought relief to the whole community.
“The existing bridge was at a distance of half a kilometer from here and the new facility will shorten our distance for students going to their schools and farmers visiting their orchards and paddy fields,” a local resident said. The bridge has eased the intra connectivity of four to five villages.
“Earlier, the students would cross the stream to reach the school because using the existing bridge would stretch their journey by almost one kilometer,” the elderly resident said.
The new bridge has been constructed with the efforts of 46RR and Dagger Division of the Indian Army.
“We thank Indian Army for providing us this facility. Earlier our kids would cross the stream causing apprehensions about their safety as most of the times the flow of water in this stream remains high,” another resident told media persons here.
He said the facility has brought relief to around 2000 people residing in five Muhallas of the area “This facility was really needed here. It has given easy access to our agricultural land. Earlier our farmers would use the long route to reach their orchards and paddy fields but now the distance has shorten,” he said.
Following the inauguration of the bridge, the locals raised the demand for repairs of the Zandfaran road saying the area was a tourist spot and the concerned authorities must do the repairs of the road as well.
