Bolster security grid in Katra, Vaishnodevi shrine area: DGP

Jammu, Apr 24: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat Friday directed to bolster the security grid in Katra town and the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine area, with special focus on ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims visiting the holy shrine.

DGP issued these instructions while chairing a comprehensive review meeting to assess the security and crime situation in Katra town and Bhawan area.

The meeting, which was a major step towards strengthening public safety and law enforcement, was attended by IGP Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti; DIG Udhampur-Reasi (UR) range Shiv Kumar Sharma and SSP Reasi Mukund Tibrewal, along with Additional SP Katra Kameshwar Puri; SDPO Katra and the SHO Katra.

During the meeting, the DGP Prabhat outlined a comprehensive roadmap for the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan launched under the directions of the Lieutenant Governor of J&K. He directed officers to adopt a stringent approach against drug-related crimes by ensuring prompt registration of FIRs, attachment of properties acquired through narcotics trafficking and the use of preventive detention laws against habitual offenders.

The DGP also emphasised the need for expeditious investigation and disposal of cases in accordance with the provisions of the New Criminal Laws (NCL). He instructed officers to ensure strict adherence to timelines and improve the overall efficiency of investigations.

The top cop of J&K also issued specific directions to strengthen the security grid in Katra town and the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine area, with special focus on ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims visiting the holy shrine.
