Jammu, April 15: BJP Spokesperson and Convenor, International Affairs, Gaurav Gupta on Wednesday hailed the recent telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, calling it a “defining moment that opens a new chapter in India-US friendship and global cooperation.”

In a statement, Gupta said the nearly 40-minute discussion between the two leaders reflects the deep mutual trust and evolving strategic partnership between the world’s two largest democracies. “The warmth and clarity in the conversation once again underline that this relationship goes beyond diplomacy—it is rooted in genuine friendship and shared global responsibility,” he said.

Referring to the popular saying, Gupta remarked, “A friend in need is a friend indeed,” adding that the continued engagement between Modi and Trump during a complex global situation demonstrates strong leadership and dependable partnership. “At a time when the world is witnessing geopolitical uncertainty, such coordination between India and the United States brings stability and confidence,” he added.

Gupta welcomed the discussions on key issues, including the situation in West Asia and the need to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and secure. He said India’s proactive role under PM Modi’s leadership is helping ensure global energy security and peace. “India today is not just a participant but a key voice in shaping global outcomes,” he noted.

Highlighting the expected “big-ticket” agreements between the two nations, Gupta said the coming weeks could mark significant progress in sectors like energy and trade. “These developments will further strengthen economic ties and open new avenues of growth for both countries,” he said.

He also pointed to the personal rapport between Modi and Trump as a major factor in deepening bilateral ties. “The fact that President Trump expressed warmth and appreciation towards Prime Minister Modi reflects the respect India commands globally today,” Gupta added.

Gupta said that under PM Modi’s leadership, India’s foreign policy has become more assertive, balanced, and globally respected. “This new phase of India-US relations is not just about diplomacy—it is about building a future based on trust, cooperation, and shared democratic values,” he said.

Reiterating support for the government’s global outreach, Gupta said the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the entire nation take pride in India’s rising stature on the world stage.
