SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday declined to cut an inaugural ribbon displayed in saffron, white, and green stripes during an event at Kashmir Haat in Srinagar.
The Chief Minister was inaugurating the ‘Know Your Artisans’ event when he approached the ribbon and stopped after noticing its tricolour-like design. He then untied the ribbon instead of cutting it and handed it back to the organisers, asking that it be kept with respect.
The moment, which was captured by camera crews, quickly went viral on social media.
He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, and other officials.
