Back-to-Back Predawn Tremors Shake Jammu Kashmir District | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Two back-to-back earthquakes measuring 4.6 and 3.0 on the Richter scale struck Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir early Sunday morning, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

The tremors were recorded at 4:22 am and 4:37 am respectively, both at a shallow depth of around 10 km. The seismic activity caused brief concern among residents in parts of the region.

No immediate reports of casualties or damage to property have been received.

It is pertinent to mention that, Jammu and Kashmir has been placed in the newly designated highest-risk Seismic Zone VI following updated seismic zoning maps released by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in late 2025.
