
SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday announced that the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 will commence on July 3 and conclude on August 28, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan.
In a post on X by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, it was stated that the 57-day pilgrimage will begin with the Pratham Puja on June 29, 2026, observed on Jyeshtha Purnima, dedicated to seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva.
The announcement further stated that advance registration for the Yatra will start on April 15, 2026, and will be available in both online and offline modes. The facility will be offered through 554 designated branches of JK Bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB), State Bank of India (SBI), and Yes Bank across the country.
The administration has urged devotees to complete their registration well in advance and follow all official guidelines to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is an annual Hindu pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir, located at an altitude of around 3,888 meters, where devotees offer prayers to a naturally formed ice Shivling, believed to represent Lord Shiva.
