SRINAGAR: Mehbooba Mufti, President of the People’s Democratic Party, on Wednesday welcomed the recently announced two-week ceasefire in the Iran–US, Israel conflict, expressing hope that it will lead to long-term peace and regional stability.

Addressing a press briefing, Mufti said the temporary truce appears to have resulted from intense diplomatic efforts, with Pakistan playing a key mediating role in de-escalating tensions and facilitating dialogue between the sides.

She emphasized that Pakistan’s involvement highlights the importance of regional cooperation in resolving global conflicts, stressing that dialogue and sustained diplomatic engagement remain the only viable path forward.

Mufti also urged the international community to support and strengthen such peace initiatives, emphasizing that the ceasefire should serve as a stepping stone toward a comprehensive and lasting resolution of the conflict.
