SRINAGAR: A young man from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district died in Saudi Arabia following a cardiac arrest, prompting his family to seek government assistance for the repatriation of his body, officials and relatives said on Sunday.

Bilal Manzoor, a resident of Sogam area in Lolab, passed away after a brief illness while working in Saudi Arabia, the officials said.

Manzoor was employed at a defence hospital in the Gulf country and his death has come as a shock to his family and acquaintances back home.

He was the son of a former vice principal of Army Goodwill School in Chandigam and had completed his schooling from the same institution in 2015, the relatives said.

The family has urged the Jammu and Kashmir administration to facilitate the return of the body at the earliest to enable last rites in his native village.

Locals also expressed grief over the death and called for swift intervention by authorities to assist the bereaved family, they added. (KNS)
