Food Safety Department Seals Srinagar Tea Blending Unit Over Hygiene Violations

Srinagar: The Food Safety Department has sealed a tea blending unit following a viral video showing unhygienic handling of tea.

During an on-site inspection, Food Safety Officers found tea being blended and packed on the floor using non-food-grade equipment. Officials stated that the conditions posed significant public health risks.

The processing area has been closed until further notice. Two samples of tea, one loose and one packed, were collected for laboratory analysis.

Authorities reiterated that all food businesses must adhere to prescribed hygiene standards. Violations will attract strict action under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
