2 -day ASMITA Fencing League concludes in Kupwara

Kupwara, Mar 29: The ASMITA Fencing City/District League 2025–26 concluded successfully at Maidan-e-Azam, Vajr Fencing Node, Zangli Kupwara after a two-day competition held from March 28 to 29.

Organised by the J&K Fencing Association in collaboration with Vajr Fencing Node, the championship witnessed participation of around 120 girl fencers from five districts including Srinagar, Kupwara, Baramulla, Budgam and Bandipora. The event was held under the banner of Sports Authority of India and Khelo India’s ASMITA initiative, aimed at promoting women’s participation in sports.

The competition featured bouts across different fencing categories, providing a platform for young athletes to display their skills and gain competitive exposure.

Officials appreciated the role of Vajr Fencing Node Kupwara for ensuring smooth conduct of the event and lauded the discipline and sportsmanship of the participants.

The association reiterated its commitment towards promoting fencing in Jammu and Kashmir and expressed hope that such initiatives will encourage more girls to take up the sport professionally.

The event concluded with prize distribution among winners and a vote of thanks to all participating teams, coaches and organisers.
