
Srinagar, Mar 28: The NSS Units of Government Degree College (GDC) Ganderbal, in collaboration with the Department of Botany, College Eco Club and the Social Forestry Division Ganderbal, successfully organised a three-day plantation drive.
The drive was inaugurated by the Principal, Prof. Fouzia Fatima, in the presence of Ranger and other officers from the Social Forestry Department.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by the Head of the Department of Botany, Prof. Irfana Amin Qureshi, Convenor Eco Club Dr. Sheikh Tanveer, and NSS Programme Officers Dr. Jamsheeda Akhter and Dr. Mansha Nisar.
Dr. Shabana Aslam and Prof. Tabasum Habib, faculty members of the Department of Botany, actively participated in the programme and encouraged students to adopt environmentally-responsible practices and contribute towards conservation efforts.
A variety of saplings were planted to enhance the green cover and promote ecological balance. The programme also served as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of trees and the collective responsibility of society towards preserving nature.
The third and concluding day of the plantation drive was organized by the Department of Botany, where students and faculty members highlighted the significance of plantation drives as an integral part of both curricular and co-curricular activities.
