5 drug peddlers arrested in Handwara: Police

Handwara, Mar 27: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Police in Handwara have arrested five drug peddlers in different operations carried out across Police District Handwara within last 24 hours.

A senior Police officer told Greater Kashmir that five FIRs were registered under the NDPS Act at Police Stations Handwara, Vilgam and Qalamabad. “The arrests were made during coordinated raids conducted at multiple locations.

During the operations, police recovered contraband substances, including heroin and charas-like material, from the accused. All the arrested persons have been taken into custody and further investigation has been initiated,” he said. “Strict action will continue against those involved in such illegal activities. We urge the public to share any information related to drug peddling, assuring that the identity of informants will remain confidential,” he added.
