
Srinagar, Mar 26: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday seized 05 vehicles involved in illegal extraction of minerals in Ganderbal and Pulwama districts.
A police in a statement said that in Ganderbal, 03 tippers were seized for illegal extraction of minor minerals in the jurisdiction of PS Ganderbal, PS Kheerbawani & PS Lar. These vehicles were found extracting and transporting mining material without valid authorization, in violation of the prescribed norms. Accordingly, the vehicles were seized on the spot and the matter was taken up with the concerned Geology & Mining Department, which subsequently imposed the requisite fine under the relevant provisions of law.
The statement further said that in Pulwama, police seized 02 tractors without registration number plates found engaged in unauthorized extraction of minerals at Romshi Nallah, Rahmoo. In this regard, a case FIR No. 39/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rajpora, and further investigation has been taken up.
J&K Police reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining activities in the district and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in protecting natural resources.
Strict action will continue against those found indulging in such unlawful practices, police statement added.
