136 faculty posts sanctioned for J&K GMCs

Srinagar, Mar 25: J&K Government has sanctioned the creation of 136 faculty posts in across Government Medical Colleges and Super-Speciality Hospitals in Srinagar and Jammu. The posts have been created through revised three-tier faculty structure.

The official government order issued today by J&K Health and Medical Education Department stated that the posts have been approved as part of the Phase-II implementation of the 3-tier faculty structure. The decision has been long pending and deemed critical for strengthening medical education and healthcare delivery in J&K on the norms set by the National Medical Commission.

The order follows a decision by the Council of Ministers earlier this month. Following the concurrence by the Finance Department the posts were created today. The sanctioned posts are in multiple disciplines of Government Medical College/Super Speciality Hospital Srinagar and Government Medical College/Super Speciality Hospital Jammu. The updated faculty strength will incorporate both Phase-I and Phase-II of the 3-tier structure. This was a long pending demand of the faculty and stakeholders and is expected to improve patient care and enhance specialist services.
