SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered the promotion and regularisation of six in-charge Associate Law Officers/Assistant Law Officers as Associate Law Officers in the Jammu and Kashmir Legal (Subordinate) Service, according to an official order

As per Government Order No. 3759-JK(LD) of 2026 dated March 20, 2026, issued by the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the decision was taken on the recommendation of the Departmental Promotion Committee. The officers have been placed in Pay Level-8 (Rs 47,600–Rs 1,51,100) with effect from March 5, 2025.

The officials who have been regularised are Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, Mudasir Ahmad Ganie, Aijaz Ahmad Wani, Laxmi Devi and Navdeep Singh.

The order further states that all the promoted officers shall continue at their present places of posting until further orders are issued.

It also clarifies that the promotions will remain subject to the outcome of any writ petitions pending before any court of law or tribunal.

The order has been issued by Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Achal Sethi, and circulated to senior administrative officials, including Financial Commissioners, Principal Secretaries, and departmental heads, for information and necessary action.

The move is part of the government’s ongoing administrative process to regularise in-charge officials within the legal cadre and streamline service structures in the Union Territory.
