
SRINAGAR: Police in Awantipora area of south Kashmir have arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered 320 grams of charas-like substance from their possession.
The arrests were made by a police team from Police Post Reshipora during a checkpoint established at Reshipora–Panzgam crossing, where the duo was intercepted while travelling in a vehicle.
The accused have been identified as Nazim Hamid, son of Abdul Hamid Mir, a resident of Kawani, and Faisal Ahmad Bhat, son of Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Dogripora.
During the search, police recovered 320 grams of charas-like substance wrapped in maize husk from their possession. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime, bearing registration number JK13J-0219, has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case under FIR No. 64/2026 has been registered at Police Station Awantipora under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.
Police said the drive against drug peddling will continue across the region.
