SRINAGAR: A major admission fraud has come to light in Jammu, where several parents were allegedly duped of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of securing seats for their children in professional courses such as MBBS and B.Tech, police sources said.

According to sources, the Cyber Police Station Jammu has registered a case against Vidya 360 Educational Services and initiated an investigation into the fraud.

The accused consultancy firm, based in Mohali, is alleged to have targeted parents of students who had qualified for NEET and JEE examinations in 2025, luring them with promises of admissions in reputed medical and engineering colleges across the country.

Police sources said the firm collected substantial amounts from the victims in the name of counselling and admission fees and subsequently issued fake allotment letters.

The fraud surfaced when parents approached the concerned institutions for verification and discovered that the allotment letters provided to them were forged.

Initial investigations reveal that at least four students from Jammu were cheated. The accused allegedly charged around Rs 10 lakh each for MBBS admissions and Rs 5 to 6 lakh for engineering courses.

Victims have alleged that after receiving the payments, the accused stopped responding to their calls and failed to return the money.

Acting on the complaints, Cyber Police Station Jammu registered FIR No. 4/2026 under relevant sections of the IT Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Pankaj Shah, Founder Director, Prasun Banerjee, Co-founder, and two female associates linked to the consultancy firm.

Police sources added that further investigation is underway, including probing the possible involvement of local associates in Jammu in facilitating the fraud.
