Srinagar, Mar 17: With the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) announcing its women’s talent hunt trials for the 2026–27 season, preparations are underway to ensure smooth conduct of the programme at both Srinagar and Jammu venues.

Officials from JKCA said arrangements related to logistics, ground readiness and coordination are being finalised ahead of the trials scheduled later this month at the Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar and Hostel Ground Jammu.

A senior JKCA official told Greater Kashmir that the association is committed to making the talent hunt inclusive and accessible for aspiring women cricketers across Jammu and Kashmir.

He added that the initiative is aimed at widening the talent pool and identifying promising players from both regions.

“It remains to be seen how many players turn up for the trials, but we are hopeful of witnessing more and more talent in this upcoming programme,” the official said.

The association has already put in place a structured schedule for the trials, including separate categories for junior and senior players, followed by trial matches for shortlisted candidates.

Officials further said that emphasis is being laid on maintaining transparency in the selection process, with a designated selection committee and proper document verification protocols.

He added that the talent hunt programme is part of JKCA’s broader efforts to strengthen women’s cricket in the region and provide a pathway for players to progress to higher levels of the game.
