Banihal, Mar 15: Following the forecast by the India Meteorological Department, Ramban district have been receiving rainfall since Sunday morning after weeks of dry weather, raising hopes of relief for farmers in the region.

Heavy rainfall has been reported in the plain areas of Ramban and Banihal, while fresh snowfall is taking place in the picturesque Mahoo Valley, a well-known tourist destination in the Banihal sub-division.

Despite the ongoing rain, traffic movement on the 270-kilometre Jammu–Srinagar National Highway continues smoothly with vehicles plying from both sides without any disruption.

Traffic police officials told Greater Kashmir that the rainfall began around 10 am on Sunday and is continuing intermittently. However, it has not affected vehicular movement on the national highway, and normal traffic is moving along the route.
