Srinagar, Mar 14: AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi on Saturday welcomed the decision of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to revoke the detention of Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk under the National Security Act, describing it as a compassionate step that reflects the importance of humanitarian considerations in governance.

In a statement, Inam Un Nabi said that the decision has brought relief not only to the family and supporters of Sonam Wangchuk but has also sent a hopeful message across the region. He said that gestures rooted in compassion and understanding often help create an atmosphere where dialogue and reconciliation become possible.

Welcoming the move, he urged the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to extend the same compassionate approach towards Kashmiri detainees who have been lodged in different jails across the country for years. “There are many families in Kashmir who continue to live in pain and uncertainty as their loved ones remain far away in prisons outside the Valley. The government should consider giving them at least one opportunity on similar humanitarian grounds,” he said.
