Srinagar, March 15: Altaf Bukhari welcomes Sonam Wangchuk’s release, urges Centre to initiate dialogue with Kashmir. In a post on X, Altaf Bukhari wrote, “Good to see Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk walking out of jail after the MHA withdrew his detention under the National Security Act. His release is a welcome step. I strongly believe that dialogue, and a compassionate approach are the only sustainable ways to address domestic issues. Such matters are best resolved through dialogue, understanding, and reconciliation. At the same time, people from Jammu and Kashmir who are currently in jail also deserve a genuine chance for reconciliation. Initiating dialogue with the people and engaging the youth are imperative to remove the trust deficit. The Centre must adopt a softer, more accommodative stance when engaging with the citizens of the country.”
