Police act against illegal mining operations in Pulwama; 5 dumpers, 1 JCB seized

Srinagar, Mar 14: Continuing its drive against illegal mining, Police in Pulwama along with the Geology and Mining Department conducted a late-night enforcement operation in the Frasipora area of Pulwama and seized vehicles and machinery involved in unauthorized mineral extraction and transportation.

An official said that a police team carried out a surprise raid at Frasipora, Pulwama during night hours. During the operation, four dumpers loaded with illegally extracted clay and one JCB excavator used for excavation were seized on the spot. The vehicles were found involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals without lawful authorization.

The seizure was documented under the relevant provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act and J&K Minor Mineral Concession Rules and further legal proceedings have been initiated.

Meanwhile, during naka checking at Gabalpora Hawal, one dumper bearing registration number JK13E-0777 driven by Mohd Maqbool Allai, son of Sanaullah Allai, resident of Okhu Pulwama was intercepted while transporting illegally extracted boulders. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 31/2026 has been registered at PS Rajpora and cognizance has been taken under the relevant sections of law.

J&K Police reiterated its commitment to strict action against illegal mining activities which cause environmental degradation and loss to public resources. Such enforcement drives will continue across the district to curb such unlawful practices, police added.
