Srinagar, Mar 2: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, and Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, on Monday appeal people for peace and restraint.

In their joint message, they said that the people of Kashmir had expressed grief and concern over the recent developments in Iran.

“We respect the right of every citizen to peacefully express their views, sorrow, and solidarity through dignified and lawful means,” they said. “However, we are deeply concerned by reports of rioting, violent clashes, and disruption of public order in various parts of Kashmir.”

They said: “Violence, destruction of property, and confrontation with security forces serves no purpose and only harm our own communities. Such actions lead to injuries, loss of life, further restrictions on movement, closure of educational institutions, and unnecessary hardship for families, traders, students, and daily wage earners. We earnestly appeal to all sections of society ó youth, elders, womenfolk, religious leaders, and citizens ó to exercise utmost restraint and refrain from any form of rioting, violence, or provocative actions.  We further appeal to all the citizens to abide by the instructions given by the police administration in maintaining law and order. Police will take strict legal action against instigators and miscreants indulging in rioting and any form of violation of law. Authorities are committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting life and property.”
