Two Accused Booked in Rs 7 Lakh Fake Government Job Scam | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have filed a charge sheet against two men in connection with an alleged fake government job scam in Awantipora, in which a complainant was reportedly duped of Rs 7 lakh on the pretext of securing employment in a government department.

Police Station Awantipora presented the charge sheet in FIR No 09 of 2026 under Sections 318 4, 61 2 and 351 2 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita before the Court of the Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Awantipora.

The accused have been identified as Showkat Ahmad Dar, son of Gh Mohd Dar alias Mom Dar, a resident of Panzgam, and Aijaz Ahmad Shah, son of Ali Mohd Shah, a resident of Tral Payeen.

According to police, the investigation established that the accused induced the complainant to part with Rs 7,00,000 by falsely assuring him of an appointment in a government department. Investigators said the allegations were substantiated through bank transaction records and other documentary evidence collected during the probe.

The investigation was headed by the in-charge of Police Post Reshipora, Sub Inspector Meheraj-ud-Din, under the supervision of Station House Officer Awantipora, Inspector Ajaz Ahmad. Police said the case was concluded on the basis of material evidence and pursued in a professional manner.

Reiterating its commitment to act firmly against fraudsters, police advised the public not to fall prey to individuals promising government jobs in exchange for money. Citizens have been urged to verify recruitment information through official government notifications and to report such incidents to the nearest police station.
