
SRINAGAR: All schools and colleges across Kashmir will remain closed on Monday as a precautionary measure in view of the prevailing situation, officials said.
Education minister Sakina Itoo said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of students and staff amid ongoing protests in parts of the Valley.
“Classes in all government and private schools as well as colleges in Kashmir division shall remain suspended for one day,” the she said.
The move comes amid demonstrations reported from several areas following recent developments in West Asia, which affected normal life in parts of the Valley.
Authorities said the situation was being closely monitored and further decisions would be taken based on the ground assessment.
Security forces have been deployed in sensitive areas to maintain law and order, while senior police and civil administration officials are reviewing the situation. (KNS).
