
SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has disclosed details of land leased at key urban and tourist locations across the Union Territory, including Srinagar, Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Katra and Patnitop, along with revenue generated from such allotments under the Land Grants Act and rules framed thereunder.
In Srinagar, 47 kanals and 10 marlas of land at Sonwar have been leased, generating an annual revenue of 1,110 rupees. At Lal Chowk, 198 kanals and 5 marlas have been leased out, yielding an annual revenue of 89,000 rupees. In Dalgate, 1 kanal and 3 marlas have been leased, generating 510 rupees annually. At Sanat Nagar, 246 kanals and 18 marlas of land are recorded, though no revenue details were indicated.
In the tourist destination of Pahalgam, 63 kanals and 18 marlas have been leased out to various beneficiaries, while 79 kanals and 8 marlas remain in possession on the ground. In Gulmarg, 294 kanals and 5 marlas of land have been leased to hotels, guest houses and other beneficiaries.
In the Jammu region, 5 kanals and 10 marlas have been leased in Katra, generating revenue of 27.20 lakh rupees annually. Patnitop accounts for 160 kanals of leased land, generating 54.47 lakh rupees in revenue. No leased land has been reported at Surinsar.
The government stated that all leases have been executed in accordance with the Land Grants Act and the rules made thereunder. The disclosures outline the extent of land allotments and revenue generation at prominent commercial and tourist hubs in Jammu and Kashmir.
