
Srinagar: An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck Tajikistan on Wednesday, with tremors felt across several parts of Kashmir.
According to the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences, the earthquake originated in Tajikistan and registered a magnitude of 5.5. The tremors were also reported in parts of north India, including the Kashmir Valley at around 4:43 PM.
In Srinagar and other districts of central and north Kashmir, residents said they felt mild shaking for a few seconds. Many people rushed out of their homes and offices as a precautionary measure.
No immediate reports of damage to property or loss of life were received from any part of the Valley.
