Elaborate Arrangements Put in Place Ahead of Vice President’s Visit to Srinagar | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Authorities have put in place elaborate security and logistical arrangements ahead of the scheduled visit of Vice President of India, CP Radhakrishnan, to Srinagar on February 26 in connection with the 21st Convocation of the University of Kashmir.

Sources said that, Senior police and civil officials have reviewed the preparedness at multiple levels to ensure foolproof security and smooth conduct of the high-profile event.

Multi-layered security arrangements have been established across the city, particularly in and around the University campus and adjoining areas, they said.

The Special Operations Group (SOG) Srinagar, district police, and other security agencies have intensified area domination, frisking, and checking at key locations. Traffic Police Srinagar has devised a comprehensive traffic management plan to regulate vehicular movement and minimize inconvenience to commuters.

Officials said security drills, venue sanitization, and coordination meetings are being conducted to ensure seamless execution of the programme.

Authorities have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to maintain public safety while ensuring that routine life remains largely unaffected during the visit. (KNC)
