
SRINAGAR: A total of 1,75,498 sale and gift deeds have been registered in the name of women in Jammu and Kashmir since the financial year 2020–21, according to official data shared by the government.
All property registrations in the Union Territory are processed through the National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS). As per an official communication dated February 17, 2026, received from the Office of the Inspector General of Registration, 1,69,306 sale deeds and 6,192 gift deeds have been registered in favour of women over the past six financial years, taking the combined total to 1,75,498.
The data shows that in 2020–21, 9,078 sale deeds and 2,238 gift deeds were registered in women’s names. The number of sale deeds rose sharply to 34,098 in 2021–22, while gift deeds stood at 1,092. In 2022–23, 32,851 sale deeds and 1,078 gift deeds were recorded, followed by 32,613 sale deeds and 857 gift deeds in 2023–24.
In 2024–25, 32,318 sale deeds and 766 gift deeds were registered in the name of women. In the current financial year 2025–26, up to date, 28,348 sale deeds and 161 gift deeds have been registered.
The government further stated that mutation entries are processed and digitally recorded through the Revenue Plus portal. These include inheritance mutations involving widows and daughters, sale-based mutations, gift-based mutations and court decree mutations. Each mutation entry recorded in Revenue Plus captures the gender of the beneficiary, ensuring gender-disaggregated digital records of property ownership.
The data reflects the scale of property transactions registered in the name of women in Jammu and Kashmir through the digital registration and revenue management systems.
