SRINAGAR: JK Scientists have announced a new collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram to launch BioTrail, a fully supported summer research and discovery programme aimed at Master’s students from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and the Northeast.
The initiative, to be hosted at the School of Biology, IISER Thiruvananthapuram, will run for two months from May to July 2026. Applications for the programme are now open, with the submission deadline set for March 10, 2026.
BioTrail is designed to provide intensive academic and research exposure to students in STEM disciplines from underrepresented regions. Selected candidates will receive hands-on laboratory and field research experience under faculty supervision, attend lectures by academic staff, and participate in structured workshops focusing on science communication, curriculum vitae preparation, leadership and career development.
Organisers said that travel, accommodation and meals for all selected participants will be fully covered, ensuring that financial constraints do not become a barrier to participation.
JK Scientists described the programme as a continuation of their long-standing advocacy for science and education in the region. The collaboration, they said, strengthens their training portfolio and reinforces their commitment to creating structured pathways that enable students from Jammu & Kashmir and other underserved areas to access high-quality research mentorship and national-level academic exposure.
Interested applicants have been advised to submit their applications through the designated online form before the deadline. Queries regarding the programme can be addressed to the official email provided by the organisers.
JK Scientists have also appealed to academic mentors and institutions across the region to disseminate information about the opportunity to ensure wider participation among eligible students.
