Police Seize Multiple Vehicles for Illegal Mining in Baramulla | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with officials from the Geology and Mining Department, seized multiple vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of soil and minerals across Baramulla district.

During routine patrolling and checks in the Authoora area of Kreeri, Police Station Kreeri seized a JCB and a tipper bearing registration number JK01AJ-5036 for unauthorized soil extraction. Legal proceedings have been initiated under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act) and the Motor Vehicles Act.

Further enforcement actions were carried out at Fresthar Nala and Dargam, where tractors engaged in illegal mineral extraction were seized. At Fresthar Nala, a tractor with engine number NKA2UDE0118, driven by Sajad Ahmad Ganie of Fresthar, was confiscated. At Dargam, a tractor registered JK22C-5220, driven by Tanveer Ahmad Bhat of Wanigam Bala, was seized. Action has been initiated against both under the MMDR Act.

JK Police reiterated their commitment to curbing illegal mining activities and appealed to the public to cooperate by reporting unlawful operations in their areas.
